Tempus
Tempus was inspsired by the David Steindl-Rast book The Music of Silence: A Sacred Journey Through the Hours of the Day. In it, he outlines the 8 hours in the traditional monastic calendar which dictate times for monks to engage in certain prayers and other activities.
Music and silence make for an interesting pairing. The guitarist Robert Fripp once said that "Music is the cup that holds the wine of silence." It's the space between the notes in a piece that sometimes matters as much if not more than the notes themselves.
